Structured Cabling Course
Course Outline
This Structured Cabling Course is a competency based course that will allow a technician to obtain an SCS endorsement on their Open Registration Card.
This course is defined under the Australian Qualifications Training Framework. (ATQF) It is a prerequisite course for technicians who wish to install structured cabling in commercial buildings for Computer and Telecommunications Networks including but not limited to Category 5 and Category 6 UTP.
This course also suits Security Technicians who install UTP cable as part of a network for IP CCTV.
In WA and SA this course is approved for ADCKRONE Certification

Course Outcome
Technicians who successfully complete this course will be awarded a National Competency Certificate that may be used to contribute to a Cert III in Telecommunications.
In WA and SA this course is approved for ADC Krone Certification.
Course Content
This course is based on Australian Standards
AS/ACIF S009:2006,AS/ACIF S008:2006 and AS 3080
This course incorporates the following:
- Understanding Digital Transmission
- UTP, FTP, shielding, earthing
- Structured Cabling Components
- Connector types and modules
- Categories and Transmission Performance
- Installation Practices
- Terminating KRONE and 110 Systems
- Class C, Class D, Class E Permanent Links including Channel Testing requirements and techniques
Course Delivery
There are two ways of completing this course
Part Time - 6 evenings
Full Time - 3 days

Pre-Requisites
There are no pre-requisites to attend the course but it is recommended that a student has completed an Open Registration course before attending the SCS Course.

Cost: $750 GST Not applicable
Construction Rebate WA only
- In Western Australia CONSTRUCTION TRAINING FUND approval is normally applicable for students either currently working in the construction Industry or have worked in the construction industry within the last three months
- Cost is $278 if CONSTRUCTION TRAINING FUND approved
- It must be noted that this rebate scheme is an arrangement between the student and the CONSTRUCTION TRAINING FUND. Integracom Management Group and its associated companies do not form part of that arrangement.
