Course Outline
This training course has been designed and developed for experienced Alarm technicians or electricians to self study in order to undertake the WA Police alarm Installers exam.
This course is ideal for experienced technicians who are coming into WA from Interstate or from Overseas.
This course also suits qualified electricians who are interested in adding Security installations to their portfolio.
The course content was developed to help the technician to understand the concept of electronic security through various stages.
One of the primary outcomes is to enable a technician to install and maintain a system that will carry out the functions for which it was designed to do with the minimum amount of disruption to either the customer or the security services resulting from false alarms or total malfunctions.
Course Delivery
This course is designed to be undertaken as a self study unit using our comprehensive training manual coupled with a Practical component to be carried out at our training centre over a two day period.
Prerequisites
Students are to be either qualified electricians or security technicians with at least 12 months on the job experience installing electronic security systems.
Note: A Restricted Registration is required to install Security Cabling under the ACMA Cabling Provider Rules.

Course Content
Assessment
There are two assessments
1. Theory Assessment
This assessment is based on the WA Police Installers exam that must be undertaken at commercial Agents in Hay Street, Perth.
2. Practical Assessment
The technician will be required to connect up a standard 8 zone security panel to a range of detectors and show proficiency in
a) Wiring techniques
b) Termination techniques
c) Basic Programming
Course Cost
Certification
On successful completion of this course the student will be awarded a competency certificate based on the unit they have completed. It may be used to contribute to a Cert II in Technical Security.
