Self Study Structured Cabling Course
Course Outline
The Structured Cabling training course is a competency based course that will allow a technician to obtain an SCS endorsement on their Open Registration Card.
This course is defined under the Australian Qualifications Training Framework (ATQF).

SCS 113 3rd November - Limited to 4 places.
*Cut-off date to allow for study 8th October; unless otherwise arranged.
- Are you a qualified electrician or communications technician?
- Have you previously completed a reputable manufacturer's structured cabling Training Course?
If so you may be eligible to complete the theory module of this course under our self paced study guidelines utilising our resource manual and CD.
Course Content
- This course is based on Australian Standards AS/ACIF S009:2006,AS/ACIF S008:2006 and AS 3080
- This course incorporates the following:
- Understanding Digital Transmission
- UTP, FTP, shielding, earthing
- Structured Cabling Components
- Connector types and modules
- Categories and Transmission Performance
- Installation Practices
- Terminating KRONE and 110 Systems
- Class C, Class D, Class E Permanent Links including Channel Testing requirements and techniques

Pre-Requisites
There are no pre-requisites to attend the course but it is recommended that a student has completed an Open Registration course before attending the SCS Course.
Course Outcome
On successful completion of this course the student will be awarded a competency certificate that may be used to contribute to a Cert III in Telecommunications cabling.
