Self Study Structured Cabling Course

Course Outline

Online learningThe Structured Cabling training course is a competency based course that will allow a technician to obtain an SCS endorsement on their Open Registration Card.

This course is defined under the Australian Qualifications Training Framework (ATQF).

Course Content

  1. This course is based on Australian Standards AS/ACIF S009:2006,AS/ACIF S008:2006 and AS 3080
  2. This course incorporates the following:
  3. Understanding Digital Transmission
  4. UTP, FTP, shielding, earthing
  5. Structured Cabling Components
  6. Connector types and modules
  7. Categories and Transmission Performance
  8. Installation Practices
  9. Terminating KRONE and 110 Systems
  10. Class C, Class D, Class E Permanent Links including Channel Testing requirements and techniques

Course Delivery

There are three steps in completing this course

  1. Preliminary Instruction - 30 Mins
  2. Self paced learning Minimum - 4 weeks
  3. Training Centre - 1 day
    (a) Scenario Training
    (b) Practical assessments
    (c) Q&A Session
    (d) Theory Assessment

Pre-Requisites

There are no pre-requisites to attend the course but it is recommended that a student has completed an Open Registration course before attending the SCS Course.

Course Outcome

On successful completion of this course the student will be awarded a competency certificate that may be used to contribute to a Cert III in Telecommunications cabling.

Course Cost

If you are an Electrician or Electrical contractor working in the construction industry in WA an 80% rebate may be applicable with the CONSTRUCTION TRAINING FUND upon successful completion.
